LATE: The Mythical Man-Month Ch 4 - 6

Reference Information:

Title: The Mythical Man-Month
Author: Fredrick P. Brooks, JR.

Summary:
In chapter 4, the author claims that conceptual integrity is the most important consideration in system design. Conceptual integrity refers to the designers sacrificing some of their own ideas in order to keep the design pure. The author spends the rest of the chapter discussing how conceptual integrity can be achieved. In chapter five, the author discusses two different subjects. The first is that an architect must be very careful when overruling a builders design as it can lead to problems. The second is that an architects second system is likely to be the most problematic one because they are overconfident from their first success and try to do too much.  Chapter six describes a complete system for managers to use to make sure everyone in the project is on the same page.

Discussion:
I found the last chapter to be very long and boring. The first two, however, were really interesting. I like how the author compliments the first chapter with the second. The first talks about how a designer must sacrifice some ideas for the greater good, and the second talks about how the designer should be very careful when he does suggest ideas. So far this book has had more interesting chapters than boring ones which is pleasing.
